   Use permissible maximum mass, not load mass

   Extinguisher capacity is banded by the permissible maximum mass of the transport unit: up to 3.5 t requires 4 kg total, over 3.5 t and up to 7.5 t requires 8 kg, over 7.5 t requires 12 kg including at least one 6 kg extinguisher.

   Keep the cab extinguisher in the total

   At least one extinguisher of at least 2 kg must be suitable for a fire in the engine or cab. It counts toward the required total rather than sitting on top of it.

   Apply the always-required 8.1.5 items

   A wheel chock per vehicle and two self-standing warning signs per transport unit, plus a warning vest, portable lighting, protective gloves and eye protection for each crew member.

   Add eye-rinsing liquid unless the labels exempt it

   Eye-rinsing liquid is required except where the only danger labels are 1, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3. Label 6.1 does require it.

   Add the label-triggered items

   Danger labels 2.3 or 6.1 add an emergency escape mask per crew member. Labels 3, 4.1, 4.3, 8 or 9 add a shovel, drain seal and collecting container. Label 4.2 does not trigger that set.

What this tool does not decide: The checker reflects the labels and mass you enter. It does not verify your load, inspect your equipment or confirm that items are in date. Eye-rinsing liquid and escape-mask filters both expire.
